My Development as a Future Leader
Introduction
In this evolving business world, leadership can be regarded as the core nucleus which would be able to influence heavily on an organizations performances and also playing a more in-depth role of creating and handling team’s to its maximum potential (Zaccaro, Rittman & Marks 2001). In addition to that, leadership can also be used as an important tool which could be beneficial to make vital changes in the organizations (Sadeghi & Pihie 2012). Effective leadership, is distinguished in a way in which a clear target has been set and it is adaptable in the circumstances of situational demands and is usually dispersed to team members (Kunzle, Kolbe and Grote 2010).
In addition to that, effective leaders should be visionary and should instill themselves with special traits which include resoluteness which would be able to drive them in reaching the mission statements and also making sure the employee’s are well driven by the goal’s that has been set (Bolton, Brunnermmeier & Veldkamp 2013). A good leader, would be able would be able to bridge the differences in terms of opinions and therefore becoming the heart of coordinating the organization (Dewan & Myatt 2008). Moreover, a leader whom tends to posses a rich amount of clarity would be able to influence the organization by leading towards the right heading (Dewan & Myatt 2008). By setting my objective at the right frequency this would be able to motivate me even further in order to become a professional leader in the working force in years to come.

“Believe the unbelievable, dream the impossible, never take no for an answer”

Self Reflection
Since my tender childhood, I have always wanted to become a leader whom would be able to manage a large amount of people. Sir Richard Branson and also Tan Sri Tony Fernades has always been my role models as they are one of top tycoons in the aviation industry. In addition to that, by equipping myself with top notch communication skill it is one of the important recipe’s which would be able to guide me to manage a large sum of people (Smart & Featheringham 2006). Having aspiration’s to become a Chief Marketing Officer, in the future I truly feel the DNA of leadership is well embedded in myself as I position myself to become a future leader. In my undergraduate studies, which I completed last year I was the leader for group assignments in a number of occasions which thought me the needed essence to lead a team. Moreover, I was also given the privilege to lead my final year project team in which we were able to raise RM 16,100 for the autism community.

Explanation on the Personality Test
After undertaking the 16-personality test, the results which I obtained was Assertive Consul. From this results, that was obtained it clearly shows that I belong to this very category. Having said that, I have undertaken many roles as a leader in my Bachelor studies and I truly feel I have instilled the platform which is stable and secure in which I was able to convey my message as a leader towards my teammates. As consuls tend to support their family and friends, I could relate this very aspect in terms of groupwork in which I would always instill the support and motivation especially towards my teammates whom were lacking in appetite to get the work done. One of the area, in which I feel more emphasize and effort should be given is I should be able to handle criticism in a very positive manner. Consuls, can become very hurt, if they are criticized and I feel I should instill my self with much more acceptance if I was criticized and soon work towards improving myself even further down the road.
Feedback from Group Members :
An evaluation form was given to my group members in order to have a deeper insight on my leadership skill, which in return came up with some interesting results. The results are tabulated in a graph format as follows :

| Results | The results are tabulated against a graph, in which 5 of my group members evaluated me. Looking into the graph, that has been plotted one of my main strengths in encouraging people, in which I feel I truly belong to this very category. Being a leader, I have always placed emphasizes on encouraging and motivating other’s to bring the best out of themselves. |
| The category that I lack ? | The category that I scored the least was in terms of Inspire. I have to improve and double my effort in this very category. |
| How can I improve ? | Inspiring other’s can be instrumental, towards a team or an organization’s success. For an example, building a relationship which emphasizes on trust that can inspire my colleagues to perform a mile further (Llopis 2013). |
My Leadership Style
As leadership style can be regarded as the nucleus which could either make or break an organization’s success, I am a person whom strongly emphasizes on the transformational leadership aspect. Transformational leadership can be defined as, focuses on meeting the basic needs and desires by inspiring other employees to come up with better solutions and leading towards creating a better workplace (Ghasabeh & Provitera 2017). In addition to that, transformational leaders can be said as an individual whom are driven by innovation and creativity as one of their main recipe’s to lead an organization (Ghasabeh & Provitera 2017). Having said that, reflecting on my previous role’s of leading group’s in my Undergraduate Studies I have always made sure that each and every student are aligned with the target’s that has been set and I would continuously inspire them to think out of the box and come up with effective ideas. Furthermore, as I aspire and have set sights on becoming a Chief Marketing Officer in the future I truly believe that with transformational leadership I would be able to set the right tempo for the subordinates to work alongside myself and continuously working towards perfection.
Furthermore, another important essence of my leadership aspect include the democratic styled leadership. Democratic leadership, can also be regarded as a participative styled leadership in which it gives more room for the employee’s to be able voice out their opinion prior to the decision making process (Kalu Dolly & Okpokwasili 2018). In addition to that, the leader would have the final say on the decision after the input is given by the subordinates. Moreover, the subordinates would usually give 110 % of their outmost effort as they feel they are also involved as part of the decision making in the organization (Kalu Dolly & Okpokwasili 2018).
Belbin’s team model, is a model which was discovered by Dr Meredith Belbin and consisted of nine important element of behavior (Fisher, Macrosson and Wong 1998). In addition to that, most of the individuals would be equipped with either two or three team roles in which it could change over a span of time (Gündüz 2008). Taking into account, I could be categorized under the aspect of resource investigator and as well as a team worker. Both this aspect’s, are well embedded in my DNA and I would be able to leverage and maximize this strength in my workforce.

Figure 5 : The figure above shows the 9 elements of the Belbin’s Team model
One of the model, that can be aligned to the leadership style include the Johari Window model. Johari Window is a communication model, which focuses on simple and important tool which is actively used in training, team development and also intergroup communication (Saxena 2015). Moreover, this model allows us to view ourselves and also how other’s view us. One of the main approaches of Johari Window is the ability to receive feedback in a constructive manner (Saxena 2015). Having said that, reflecting on one of previous experience as a leader in my final year project in my Bachelor Studies, I received constructive feedback from my lecturers in which I took it in a positive manner and made critical changes which resulted in better performances. Reflecting on Johari Window model, this model can be used as an important essence in terms of improving and polishing interpersonal communication (Saxena 2015).

Future Heading
This assignment, has been an eye opener for myself as I have to make more improvements in the quest to become a successful leader. Having said that, by looking into some of the models and theories it has gave me a in-depth knowledge which could be vital in the following years to come. As the saying of J. F Kennedy goes by “Leadership and Learning are indispensable to each other”, I have set sights on acquiring the knowledge and also improving on my leadership skill which would be the nucleus towards my success.

Thank you for reading the blog Zainab ! Appreciate it.
The leadership style, which I would discuss further on is the Transformational Leadership. Transformational Leadership, is the leadership which has always been embedded in my DNA and I truly admire the idea of having a great vision and working towards greater success. As each, leadership style’s has it’s very own downside thus I feel the limitation of this leadership style would be “it tends to look into the greater picture”. Having said that, this could be too conceptual and might be missing with the task focus that some employees need to guide them as they go about with their duties. Moreover, by setting the target’s of the organisation very high this would also lead towards a burnout of the employee’s trying to achieve the target’s that has been set. As the leaders, are always keen on achieving the grand vision in the organisation therefore it would lead certain employees to lose motivation and burnout.
Perhaps, if an organisation wants to go a mile further and strive for better growth therefore, Transformational Leadership is regarded as the key soul which should be embedded in the leader’s philosophy.
I hope, I have answered your question Zainab. Thank you and a pleasant day to you.

Having inspiration and aspiration to become a Chief Marketing Officer, there is an important route which I need to take in order to become a successful and a top marketer. Having said that, I have set sights on becoming a a top marketer through rank and file manner in which I would be able to garner important experience and knowledge along the way which would able to propel me to greater heights. Having said that, it would also be an added advantage if I tend to have an in-depth knowledge of the business world and how it operates as it would allow myself to have a firm grip on the business field. As Chief Marketing Officer, is a tough and a commanding job till date I feel by having the needed experience and the right vision I would be able to take up the job and thus give my outmost best in the Marketing field.
I hope, I have answered your question Su Ling. Thanks and a pleasant day to you.

Great blog!
A Chief Marketing Officer’s job is very challenging, yet they don’t seem to stick with the same organisation for too long. An article published in Harvard Business Review [https://hbr.org/2017/07/the-trouble-with-cmos], pointed out that CMOs have the highest turnover in the C-suite profiles.
How do you think your leadership style would prove effective in a new opportunity that involves a different organisational culture?

Alright, the Chief Marketing Officer job is usually highly sought after by each and every individual whom have the passion and soul for marketing. Having said that, according to Harvard Business Review article there is a high turnover of CMO’s which indicates there could be some issue’s surrounding this very job. As of my leadership style, I would solely focus on democratic leadership as this leadership would be able to propel the organisation to greater heights. So, a million dollar question on how particularly my leadership style would be able to suit different organisational culture ? I should be able to adapt to the different array’s of employee from different culture as this could help understand them better and therefore would be able to enhance the productivity of each and every individuals. Having said that, by practicing Democratic Leadership it open’s up the platform for each and every employees to share their thoughts and the employees would feel more connected to the business. Through this, the employee’s would be able to give their 110% of commitment to the business organisation. So, I feel by instilling myself with the essence of democratic leadership I would be able to command the organisation to their pinnacle of success.

From my point of view , as I have had experience leading team’s in my Undergraduate studies it has taught me the needed recipe’s which is vital to propel a team to commanding heights. As, I have always been a leader especially during presentation’s and group assignments it has thought me the importance of striving the team members and getting the best out of each and every one of them. Personally, being a leader builds the confidence and the charisma to push my self forward and I would certainly encourage everyone to be a leader in their respective business field. As the saying goes “Leader’s are made, they are not born” therefore each and every individual have the very capacity to sharpen their skills which would eventually lead them to success. By having charismatic and transformational leader’s, this would be an instrumental aspect towards the success of the business and also the growth of the country’s economy.

Thank you for the question Ziv ! Hope you enjoyed reading the blog.
Taking into account the Democratic Leadership. Democratic Leadership, is the leadership style that I have always embedded myself with as it would connect people to their very own work. Looking into the limitations aspects, the Democratic Leader’s might often have to deal with rejection’s as a leader might have a certain plan to implement, but the team might overrule the idea which has been proposed. Moreover, this leadership style would not be able to work well especially during a crisis situation. This is because, if a organisation is facing emergency it would take time to get a feedback from the employees in which
it increases the delay of resource implementation.
I hope I have answered your question Ziv. Pleasant day to you.

As of the Democratic Leadership, which is the leadership style that I always equip myself with it has the potential to be applied to the global organisation. This is because, it would promote a free flow of idea’s which would be the key recipe to succeed in the global market. By having a rich idea in place, it would be the needed force which would be able to guide the organisation to their pinnacle of success. In addition to that, Democratic Leaders receive a diverse set of ideas from their subordinates which would infact be the key towards the organisation’s success in the global arena. By asking people their thoughts and opinions, this would mean that it is possible to make top notch decisions as more team members would be involved. And by venturing, into the global stage this would mean that the organisation should be able to discuss the grand strategies which would be vital. Moreover, this can only be done through the effectiveness of Democratic leadership.
I hope I have answered your question Pham ! Good day to you.

Thank you for the feedback Rachel ! Hope you enjoyed reading the blog.
As I have scored the least, in the aspect of inspire I have a number of way’s which is carved out in order to further improve my leadership skill. One of the very first aspect, that I could do is build people up. This is because, by giving small compliments it would be one of the way of brightening a person’s day and would inspire them to give their outmost best at whichever task that is being undertaken. In addition to that, I should also treat everyone equally as every human beings are equal regardless of their gender, political ideology or even race. By treating other’s on how they want to be treated, no matter of their background would inspire the trust and confidence within themselves. Through this ways, I would be able to sharpen my skills and therefore improve the aspect of Inspire in the long term run.
I hope, I have answered your question Rachel. Pleasant day to you.

Thank you for reading the blog Wafa ! Hope you enjoyed reading it.
There are many leader’s whom can fail terribly in the business world. One of it is because the leader’s are not opting to adapt to changes. For an instance, if the company is undergoing major changes and the employees are also seeking for changes therefore the leader should be able to adapt to new leadership style which would benefit the company as a whole. If the leader, does not align the subordinates working under him/her to changes therefore this would be a tall order to make the drastic changes being implemented in the organisation. Having said that, another manner in which the leader can fail terribly is because of the communication barrier. If the leader fails to give the right command towards the subordinates this would lead to heavy confusion in the working force. Through this, the subordinates would not know what to do next and thus would lead to unwanted communication issue in the organisation.
I hope, I have answered your question Wafa. Have a pleasant day ahead.

Being a leader for a numerous amount of time, in my Undergraduate studies gave me a wide array of experience’s. Having said that, there were a number of challenges which I faced when leading a team and especially in completing the task. Some of the challenges include, team member’s were late in finishing the task that was assigned to them. Even after setting a timeframe in order to get the task done, some of my team members still couldn’t complete their part in time. So, I as a leader had to set up to the plate and guide them in their work which was one of the key in solving the challenges that was faced. Moving forward in the business field, I would first acquire a vast amount of experience which in return would be able to propel myself to greater heights. By having the experience in hand, I would sharpen my leadership style which is Transformational leadership and would apply it in the organisation that I am working it. I have always been the person, whom is charismatic in my ways and would be in the same frequency together with my subordinates and work towards achieving the goals or target’s which has been set. Through this, the organisation would be able to reach it’s of pinnacle success. Being equipped with both transformational and also democratic leadership style this two aspects has been the core essence in my quest to become a successful leader in the future. Coming back to the question, that if I have to change my leadership style in the organisation I would readily make changes to my leadership style. This is because, a leader should be able to adapt to changes. Those changes would not be an overnight change but would take a specific amount of time due to the time of adoption. Moreover, by exposing myself to different shades of leadership style this would mean I would be equipped with a larger array of knowledge of which I can implement in my organisation.
I hope, I have answered your question Karty ! Good day to you.

Charismatic leader’s are leaders whom influences the followers with their charm and also their very own personality. In addition to that, charismatic leaders are leader’s whom would be the head of the show in an organisation. I have always wanted to be the frontman in the organisation and thus leading the organisation to their pinnacle success. As such, it can be through charismatic leadership as this leaders possesses the vision and have the confident to articulate the vision in the highest of quality.

First things first, if I was given a chance to be the frontman in an organisation I would instil my democratic and transformational leadership which would be able to bring the organisation to the pinnacle of success. Moreover, as democratic leadership is also one of my important philosophy which I tend to carry I would make sure my subordinate would be in the same wavelength with me and guide them to success. In addition to that, as participative aspect is the core foundation towards democratic leadership therefore by getting the support of my subordinates I would be able to achieve the grand vision’s and strategies in the organisation with ease.
